Default Adaptive Cats shocks

Hello my fellow cat lovers.
Ok, I'm wondering if I can replace the adaptive shocks on my 1996 xk8 with adaptive shocks from a 2006 xk x150. I have pictures of both and the first problem I saw was the top mounting posts. The 1996 has 3 top mounts and the 2006 have a 4 post mounting set up. Can the tops be swaped or am I being too simple? thanks in advance for your help. see pics

Aren't the bottom attach different as well? Ours have a pressed in bushing. The x150s have the bushing pressed in the control arm I thought.

From those pictures, it looks fairly easy to just swap x100 top shock mounts onto the x150s shock absorbers (although, you will want new ones instead of re-using the old ones). Now, the problem is, is the bottom mount the same? From what mhminnich said, there is a huge difference between the two that may be too hard to overcome. You may have to look into adapting a bracket of some sort, or possibly the swapping the upper control arm as well? How will suspension geometry and alignment, particularly camber, be affected by this? Also, is there a difference in length of the shock absorbers? If the rebound and compression rates are too different from the X100s, you may need to swap over the X150s springs as well to maintain good ride and handling. You might end up with a lift or a drop in ride height, the latter being more desirable. Then there's the question of whether the plugs are compatible, and if they are, will the Jag's canbus system flag it as the wrong part or flag a suspension fault warning?

Why do you want to install X150 shocks instead of X100 shocks?

X150 adaptive shocks are much cheaper.

hi and thanks for your help. I've just looked at some pics of the lower portions of the shocks and though the rear shocks are pressed bushings the front look to be different. Well spotted mhminnich. see new pics. As it goes I'm going to be changing the bushes on my front shocks and was browsing E-bay looking at adaptive CATS for the xk8 and came across the 2006 x150's with a starting bid of £32.00 for all four. Thought it might be worth a bid or 2 but as it goes there look to be too many differences to bother. Thanks all. Here's the e-bay link if anyone is interested. still 2 days left on the auction as of 31/05/2020 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XK...s/164219553298
