Default Adaptive Control Dampening ???

Looking at Parts Geek and the various Bilstein struts for the XK8. Two obvious "newbie" questions...

1) There are two front and three rear options. Any significant differences? How do I match up the "correct" model for my 2000XK8?

2) None have "Adaptive Control Dampening". Do I need it?

Thanks again for all of the combined knowledge & wisdom...hopefully in time I'll be able to contribute in some small way....

Pop your hood and look at the top of the shock towers. If there are wires coming out of the tops of the shocks, then you have the electric shocks. If you have no wires then you have the standard shocks.

get the cheapest one they have listed for Heavy Duty Bilsteins, parts geek may have multiple suppliers for the very same shock, and all are identical and will fit if listed for your car MY. Don't let the various parts numbers fool you, $92 each, don't pay more than $100 a piece.

I didn't know XK8's had adaptive suspensions. Thought that was an XKR feature?

I think that you could order it as an Option on a XK8.

Two questions please. (1)I have a 2000 XKR with active damping control. Do I need to spend the extra $ or can I use the standard shocks?(2) If I use the standard shocks how do I or can I make the "SUSPENSION FAULT" warning light go away? Thanks for any sugestions.

You would have to change all four shocks, then unplug the control module in the trunk. I asked the same question a month or so ago. Unless you really need the stiffer ride in sport mode they are not necessary.
