Default Adding heated seats

Does anyone know if heated seats can be added if they did not come from the factory? I found a very nice low mileage '97 I am very interested in and the heated seats are the only thing keeping this from being the perfect car for me (They come in handy in the great white north!). If it is just a matter of adding the elements and finding a console with the switches I am going to go for it, but if the harness isn't there or if it will cause error codes I am going to have to think about it.

for MY 2000, Yes, It is just a matter of adding the elements and replacing the console with switches.

look at wiring diagrams and see if similar. I suspect so.

Just a word of caution before you jump into the deal.

Depending on the age of the donor vehicle, the seat modules may not be compatible and also don't assume a '97 harness will have the connections for heater switches.

send me pics of your seat module connectors both sides and maybe I can tell.

I'll look at the wiring diagrams this weekend. And parts to see if different between years.

Graham, I think he is looking at adding the seat heater elements to the 97 car.

at least for MY2000, the center console switch pack doesn't change electrical connections as the signals are digital coming from it. Just need to get the switch pack with the heater switches in it.

I just peeled up my upholstery and added in aftermarket heaters. ~$100 on eBay for Dorman brand. They work fine.

About five years ago I was cleaning out a closet and found an office chair pad with heat and masssage units that someone gave me for a gift. You see them in stores for $20 or so. As I was about to toss it in the garbage I noticed it was 12vdc powered so I figured, "Why not?" I tore the cushion open, removed the vibrator motors and heat pads and installed them in the driver's seat of my Lincoln. Actually kind of nice when I drive straight through to my parents' home in Florida.
