Adhesive for Door Treadplate insert
I recently pulled out the interior on my XK8 to repair the rust holes we all know are a problem. I managed to get the treadplate inserts off without bending them or doing any damage. Now I am ready to put the inserts back in and I am wondering what to use for adhesive. I searched around and didn't find much information on what is used for this. It looks like a thin adhesive tape was used originally, but the foam automotive mounting tape I have come across seems much too thick. So, anyone that has had to re-install these inserts, what have you used for adhesive?
i did the same thing to my xj6,.the double sided tape will make it to high, found that out the hard way.so i cleaned it up and used 3M super weatherstrip adhesive,it comes in black or yellow.very good product and you can find it in most parts stores...steve.
