LOL! Where were you a year ago? There was a huge thread on that very hood liner. Everyone who installed it seemed to like it. I think h20boy has one. Just search for "hood liner" and you'll find the thread.

Actually, TBird was the outfit selling them on the thread Rev Sam was pointing to. I believe Tbird was offering a discount to forum members. If my memory serves me XKRacer used the "R" shown in one of the pics.

A year ago I didn't have an XKR hood on my car . Noticed the cutouts in my liner are already weeping fiberous entrails into my engine compartment, so a liner designed for an R would be a big help right now.

Here you go

Gonzo will print up anything you like at the end of the day, the Jaguar leaper is popular

Found a closer pic

All I will say is make sure you get the spray on glue he suggests, anything else will not handle the heat

I bought one for my XK8 - I have had it for a year, still looks brand new. Relatively simple installation, though for best results remove the hood.

Very nice, Tony. Guess I'll be getting an R liner with the Leaper decal . I'm assuming that after the liner is put on with the glue it becomes a permanent fixture.

Definatly. Trying to push that material up onto the hood with glue on everything could get messy, even disasterous.

Skid
I did mine last year, not that difficult. you'll have to remove the hood. I used a fiberglass roller to roll it out sprayed the 3M glue from top to bottom sprayed about a quarter of the hood and liner at a time. I masked all the painted area that wasn't covered by the liner. You'll have to keep working the areas down for a short time while the glue is setting up. I'll go out and photograph it tomorrow

I like this. I think I'd rather have a large growler though.

A question.

Are hood liners a purely cosmetic enhancement, or do they have other benefits such as road noise? Thanks!

They are to absorb heat and reduce noise from the engine bay, I know a few who have done away with them and had the under side painted

Default Another Question

What is your reason for replacing the headliners? Are your current ones worn out? Are you getting some kind of better performance such as more noise absorption and/or heat dissipation? Is it a cosmetic improvement or some combination of the aforementioned items?

Thanks,
Scott

Those with X100 XKRs have a problem of the supercharger rubbing on the hood liner, this takes the paint off the supercharger and the hose clips rip the liner to pieces, they sag, they get dirty and cant be cleaned easy.
The replacement is glued directly to the hood, which gives more clearance, they can be cleaned and you can stick a nice graphic on them.......

Does the liner absorb the heat or repel it? Would removing the liner lower underbay temps, especially if someone installed an undersized SC pulley?

hey, i'm glad to see gonzo used a few of my pics for his business!

I love the new liner, its soooo easy to clean now too, where the other one is like cleaning a carpet, everything gets stuck to it.

+1 to all of the above My liner was rubbing on the Super charger and it was starting to look shabby, and XKR Racer correct about getting dirty. No matter How much you try to clean it it never really looked clean, and Gonzo's liners really look nice.

I wound up with some body shop dust on my hood liner after they cut the louver holes in my other hood, so I painted it with Dupli-Color heat resistant black spray paint before putting it on the XKR hood. Also had the louver holes trimmed up a bit...
Looks like this now...

Not bad for 10 years old, but then I don't have a supercharger.
