Below 98F top is usually down and I only run the AC long enough to blow hot air out of the vents and footwell. Might switch it on for a bit if stuck in traffic.

Above 98F, top goes up and air comes on. I have limits.

Unless SWMBO is along for the ride, then all bets are off and I control neither the top nor the AC.

If it's too hot for me to be unable walk to my backyard without sweating a few drops, the top stays up. Over here it's always humid so the heat can become unbearable. When it's slightly cooler I'll have it down. Usually that means that I won't have the A/C on. The few times I've had the A/C on with the ragtop down, I've noticed that I feel no effect from the A/C. I just feel air blowing in my face, but it isn't cool at all. In very hot days, even with the top up I notice the A/C takes a long time to cool the cabin. Doesn't happen at night time or on cooler days when it makes a freezer out of the cabin. I think I need to recharge the A/C gas on my car.

Here in FL, yes for the summer. I would expect no in winter.

That's primarily why I do it. Bonus points for peeling out next to a Prius at the lights.

+1 If I need the A/C it is on... regardless... just like at home

You might complain about the environmental impact, I complain about slow-a** drivers in the FAST lane
