Air filter snorkle

Air filter snorkle
Okay, I give! After hours of poking. prodding , blood-letting and unseemly verbage, I can't figure out how to get the silly air filter box to fender snorkle installed. The PO had removed the air filter box and snorkle to install one of those K&N type cone filters and I'm trying to get it back to original. How does the thing go in? I'm assuming it goes in through the wheel well although I haven't managed it yet. It does go through the inner fender, right?
Fixed, brute force and deformation worked.
