Alarm beeps over and over. No Start
Well, I'm not sure if I should be posting this in the security area or here, but I'll give it a shot. I'm currently out of town and my wife tripped the alarm on my 2006 XK8. She used the key in the door to stop the alarm, but now there is a constant "beep, beep...." about once a second that will not stop. The car will not start. I had her make sure all the doors/hood/trunk were closed properly and tried locking/unlocking manually and with fob, but nothing will stop the beeping and she can't get the car to start. I also had her disable the valet mode.
I suspect she may have triggered some type of anti-theft mechanism, but have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Try disconnecting the negative battery terminal (10mm wrench) for 30 seconds. Reconnect the terminal and quickly start the car withn a few seconds and see if it clears up. Make sure she is using the black, not the green key to start the car.
Thanks. I'll give it a try when I get back from the road trip. I was aware of the "green key" thing, but that doesn't seem to be widely known.
So, you seem to think I'm dealing with an electrical fault and not something that is a id10t error?

I can only offer this as a suggestion as European and US security system setups differ in several ways.
Locking and then unlocking the vehicle with the remote fob should reset the security system and stop the beeping. Because it doesn't appear to be happening suggests:
1. the transmission selector may not be properly in the 'P' position
2. the headlight rotary collar is in the 'headlights on' position

Well, I got home from my trip and the battery was dead. Jumped it with another vehicle and the alarm went off, I then disarmed the alarm and the chirping stopped. Now If I could just get the car to start. I think my battery may be toast...unless there is some "secret trick" to starting the car after the battery discharges. Thanks for everyone's help

Charge or replace the battery before doing anything else. Many jumper cables are not of adequate wire gauge to start this car and power the electronics properly when you have a dead battery.
