Alarm Deactivation Switch?
Hello All!
I noticed next to my steering wheel, on the right side, there's a place reserved for what looks like an optional switch. It's the same size as the one on the left that's marked for Valet. I just place an order with SNG Barratt and in the catalog I saw an item for an alarm deactivation switch. Could this switch be for the this slot? Also, there's an additional slot next to the valet one that I believe is for some cruise control option. I'm a bit of a geek with these add-ons and like for my car to have has many factory options as possible. So for you other XKR/8 owners, do any of you have these switches or were they for non-US cars? Also, has anyone ever added these on?
Thanks!

I assume that you are talking about those things that look like little vents. If so, the one on the right actually is a little vent, I think. It has something to do with the cabin air system or something like that. The one on the left is just there for symmetry. I replaced it with a power switch for my aftermarket navigation system. WhiteXKR or H2Oboy can be more precise regarding the purpose of the switch on the right.

My 2005 XK8 is fitted with the Adaptive Cruise Control option, with Forward Collision Warning.
In the attached picture, the usually-empty slot next to the "Valet button" is fitted with a button to engage/disengage the Forward Collision Warning.
This feature works by sending an audible and visual warning to the driver if the system thinks you're approaching the car in front of you too quickly.
I'm not aware of a Jaguar OEM "alarm deactivation" button being located in this slot, but its entirely possible. Maybe someone else can chime in.

I should state that the above left and right locations are for a US left hand drive car without adaptive cruse control.
