Alarm / inclination sensor
Good evening, I am working through the issues on my 1999 xkr and have reached the key fob stage.
Im not aware of the alarm ever going off and the central locking works fine. I have recently generated a code saying inclination sensor self check unavailable. Locking or unlocking with the key does not set the alarm off and the indicators dont flash. Ive tried programming the key fobs but get nothing. No beep and no flash at the gear selector. Is this down to the inclination sensor ? Will a failed intelligent sounder affect things? Thanks in adavance for any assistance.

When you use the car key, will all lock follow open/close? Indications on bonnet/trunk/doors in the instrument display? Anything missing?
Batteries in keyfobs?
Check plugs to level sensor and security box (under fusebox in trunk) and horn.
Does anything else on the keyfob work? Ligths, alarm button.. etc?
A little depending where the car has lived its life, the weather can have a role in this... the door modules and sequrity module are not enviromentally sealed and are prone to, over time, get damage from corrosion due to condensation inside. (i live in Sweden and had this issue on a few boxes on my -98 Daimler). It can eventually become a matter of removing and open a box to have a peek on the cirquit board and look for corroded tracers.. if its not to bad its usually repairable...

Thanks for your help. I have a replacement inclination sensor to try and will examine the security locking module too. Corrosion may be a factor as the car was parked up for 8 years in a seaside town.
Out of interest where is the inclination sensor located on the car? I'm guessing in the boot somewhere.
If you have IDS you could try disabling the inclination sensor as it is one of the configurable options.
