The left volume control knob does not even make the ratchet sound any longer and needless to say I can’t adjust radio volume OR adjust my bass/treble mode….

i control volume w steering wheel telephone volume control buttons but that doesn’t change the bass/treble setting number…

Ive tried to pull off left knob (to no avail) so I can try an electronics spray cleaner back there

i am afraid to put too much force into squeezing / pulling for fear of breaking!!

anyone ever have this ???

It’s the OEM Alpine in a2005 xk8 Base

 

There is a plastic rotary dial. Once the gears break, you need a new (used) unit. It is near impossible to find a matching rotary dial to replace it.
