It's possible that your bar is installed upside down. The way to confirm is that when correctly installed, there is a single hole for attaching the Alternator cooling duct (see pic). The hole is on one end only and should align with the Oil Filter. I can't see the hole on yours - which may mean it's on the other end!!
Yes there's an easy way, you do NOT need to remove the subframe brackets. The bolts will slide out. There is a pipe that you will have to push clear of the bolt head during removal (I think it's Oil cooler pipes).

I also have an annoying squeak in my car. It happens whenever I drive enthusiastically with the wife in the car. Having noticed that the squeak is transferable between vehicles I surmised it must be the wife. Removing the offending component seems to resolve the problem
