LNF2210AD = JLM21323
The new part number for the $2400 unit is JLM21323. That includes the traction control

LNF2210AB No traction control

Information verified by Matt at Nalley Jaguar.

Default I think I know what I can be

Have you opened the module to see the repair?

Either of two options--

1. the component surface mount diode was pulled loose by the opening- this is located right next to the terminal post NOT closest to the board side.

2 MOST LIKELY - The solder mount repaired (( CLOSEST TO THE EDGE )) was too much solder and connected that mount to the trace on the board completely surrounding it- That dead short would cause all kinds of havoc and codes being thrown !!
The fix- Use a de-solder braid (radio shack) on terminal post that was repaired --MAKE SURE the terminal POST is NOT touching the board trace that COMPLETELY surrounds the post terminal then resolder the post making sure there are no "holes" in the solder-

If you cant do it then pay a electronics repair place to do it !! A LOT cheaper than $2400 vs $75-$150 !!

Not trying to step on any toes here

Peace,

Robert

Smile Update on the ABS Module back from ModuleMasters.com

It has been repaired prior to me buying the car. They said they will not charge me if they can not repair the unit. (Very nice of them, I think).

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

The ABS light was on. ASC and TRAC where indications before I put the repaired module in. I took some time out and clean all 4 wheels wheel sensors, and clean in the hole of the sensors with brake cleaner spinning the wheel. While spinning the wheels I found the right rear dust shield had come into contact with rotor. Fixed that as well.

A little update that me and Matt (H2OBoy) did one evening chasing my Poltergeist away. My left wheel sensor was off by 2-4 miles.

24 hours of driving it around and I have not had an ABS light or any other codes.

I am hoping this is the last of this thread and can put this ABS issue away.

BTW if this works that mean I have had two ABS modules that were causing codes. I wish had won the lottery instead.

Thank you everyone and especially H2OBoy for the assist with the computer and his time.

Thumbs up Update ABS / ASC / TRAC lights and warnings (fixed)

Hi Everyone,

Over 300 miles and NO ABS light! Yea!

Unbelievable but true. I had an after market OEM ABS harness and 2 ABS modules that were bad.

So what fixed it was using a computer like autoenginuity (Thanks Matt).
Using the Gus provided pdf for the voltage on each harness. (Thanks Gus).
Sending off both modules for repair.

That is what fixed my issues with ABS / ASC / TRAC lights and warnings.

Default ABS light

Mine comes on intermittently with no pattern. It is usually off the next time I start the car. It came on yesterday when my car was being worked on and the code indicated a pump failure, which they said usually indicates module issues. It's done this off and on for two years. Never any restricted performance or any other symptons.

Hi Walkman1,

My best recommendation is to throughly clean the wheel sensors. Jaguar forums has the sticky at on the XK8 / XKR. This may clear up your problem. Also if they are in bad shape or something. Take a picture for the forum. Pictures really speak a thousand words in the "how to"

I cleaned the wheel sensors last year, but I have not cleaned the plug connections for the harness from the front wheels to the engine compartment. That's my next task.

Default ABS/TRAC lights

Hi and Welcome

Just finished the identical repair on my '00. Go to the FAQ section, and scroll down to the ABS sub-section, and read that short and invaluable thread. Cleaning the wheel speed sensors (first step), checking out the wiring, and repairing the ABS module yourself are all covered. Good Luck

Scott knows of whence he speaks on this (and the same for single-malts).

In this case though, I'd like to suggest a slightly different strategy. Your symptoms point to one specific common fault ... an intermittent circuit in front sensor wiring. Reason being, all that freeway time should have tirggered a fault if dirty sensors or a fault in the ABS module were the problem. Didn't happen. When you entered the parking lot, you probably made a big steering input, maybe even full-lock to one side or the other. That's the exact thing that will cause the front sensor wiring fault to show up. And that's when your fault appeared.

So my $.02 would be to try the following first (it also has the advantave of being the easiest fix to try). Open each front sensor connector, spray a good bath of contact cleaner on each side, let dry, and firmly reseat the connectors. You can do this without even removing the road wheels. You'll see the connectors by looking in behind the leading edge of each front tire ... it helps to turn the steering full-lock to each side when doing this.

If this fix doesn't work, it's on to the complete debugging job. But there's a good chance this is all that's needed for your car.

Good luck.

If you wish to troubleshoot your system this check sheet should help http://gusglikas.com/images/AutoRepa...heet%20XK8.pdf It takes the guess work out of the process. This sheet was developed using a 99 xk8 but I think the readings should be the same on your car. I hope this helps!

Default abs jlm21323

What causes an abs to go bad? My car is a 2001 xk8 with 23900 miles. The warranty easycare wants to use a refurbished part but I want a new part. Please, advise. Thanks, Kathy

So I'm thinking by "an abs" you mean the box called the "abs module", right?

Often it's a solder joint opening up, but other stuff too. There are rebuilders out there who have good reputations. Can't recall a name, but someone will chime in with one, I'm sure.

Good luck.
