Another stupid question from Mike
EVERYTHING is finally up, and working on my car, except the wipers. They only run for 15 to 20 cycles, before shutting off. There is no intermitant wiper at all just more of the same 15 to 20 cycles. I do have high speed wipers, but only with the same number of cycles. While driving in the rain, I am always flicking the lever, to keep the wipers going. They also park where ever they want to. I replaced the 2 relays in the fuse box, at the LR of the engine compartment, with the correct ones, and got the high speed working. It shows in the repair manual, that there are contacts in the motor, but also that there is a control unit for them, in the body processor module. Would it do me any good to remove the wiper motor, and open it up to see if some contact is dirty, or is it going to be something expensive? At the moment, my hands are all cut up, and burnt, so any info will help, without me ripping the car apart, to find nothing.....Thanks....Mike

There are no stupid questions when it comes to problems with these cars....
I had a similar problem with my 1974 Datsun 260Z's wipers back in the late 70s. They would also park wherever they wanted on the windshield. Turned out to be a small metal contact that had broken off inside the wiper motor. It took me and my roommate at the time several hours to find the problem after I talked with a Datsun tech and he told me what to look for. We tried replacing the contact with a small metal piece that we fabricated and soldered on (Datsun did not sell the contact separately) but that did not resolve the problem (neither one of us was very good with electrical components) and I wound up replacing the motor. That fixed it....
Good luck....
