Another Summer
Hello All
This will be my 10th year with this car. Ever since I bought it, if the temperature is above 80f and I shut the car off to by gas or make a quick stop, the car will crank but not start.
I usually have to wait up to 30 minutes before it will fire up, opening the hood to accelerate cooling seems to help.
I use premium fuel and can hear the pump running when I turn the key.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Jack

Oh Jack, brings back memories of my XJ6 in the summer, but vapor lock n/a here.
Please say more about the issue, does it crank and just won't catch? Have you tried to read the codes? Did you recently do any work on the car (especially around the visors)?

Thanks for the reply.
It cranks fine, shows a pending P111 intake air temp intermittent high voltage, but that’s always come up. Only work I’ve done recently was converting the Nav unit to the Three gauge setup.
The car has always done this in the Summer since I bought it 10 years ago

If opening the hood lets it cool and start then you only have two temp sensors . The water temp sensor which has a big effect on fuelling and the one in the MAF unit.
The WT sensor is cheap but make sure you get the right one ..plug colour must match.
As you got defect on air temp sensor change that.
I think if you unplug the MAF it will still run .....
