Antelope interior paint - SOLVED!!!!
Guys, I've been hunting down Antelope color painting (goes with the AGD Oatmeal leather as the secondary interior color). Before today I had only found 1 source (thanks again Steve), but they weren't interested in shipping from England to USA.
My steering wheel leather color was worn right off!
I got to thinking - way back. I once had to match a color for something else, may have been a vehicle. Anyway, went to Lowes. They have a color matching computer, bought a can. Busted, not even close. Then I decided to try Home Depot = perfect match.
So today I figured WTH. I pulled into HD parking lot, reached up on the dash and grabbed the sorta triangular shaped vent off the top flat side of the dash (it comes out easily). Went to there paint desk and asked if they could match it?
The guy didn't even blink (good news, this is irregular shaped). While I wanted oil based, they didn't have it in eggshell, only quart sizes in glossy finishes. I selected latex eggshell, small pint size. Only $6.00 !!!
Well despite 40 degree temperature I couldn't resist, tried it out. Perfect match (I mean dead on!). In hindsight I admit I was wrong about eggshell - the leather finish is a notch up on the glossy scale (so much for my memory), but I will live with it for a few days and see if another coat of semi glossy oil base is warranted.
If anyone needs the paint mix codes just ask. What a nice surprise though. Car looks a notch or 2 better without the black color worn leather on the steering wheel for sure.

Ozbot, an FYI for you.
Took her for a drive today. Color match is perfect, but I should have bought gloss. I'll probably put coat #2 on with gloss. The Antelope on the steering wheel, as opposed to plastic trim is glossy in looks & texture.

Thanks for the info. I'll be doing this in the spring as the cars in a non heated garage and it was -16C (3F) today and everything is frozen stiff. I saved the picture so I won't lose it, I hope.
In fairness to the UK vendor, shipping pressurised cans is difficult and costly. Many carriers won't ship them overseas.

Hi Jonken; I would like to have the codes. I have the same problem on my '99. Did you brush it on or rub it on? How is it holding up?
Thanks

Be very careful with this ...to do the job right you need acrylic leather paint ..clean and sand the leather so it soaks in and if you want a coat of acrylic lacquer on top. We have loads of paint matching stations in the UK at Homebase. Maybe you could walk in with a litre of white leather paint in a tin and get them to tint it . If its a leather match pull out the backseat and cut a bit out the back of the headrest hump.
I have just been tinting Wakeson light cream with 20 spots black and 15 yellow to match my seats. Like all paint jobs Prior Preparation Prevents **** Poor Painting.
