Default Any pointers on airbag light??

My 1997 XK8 convertible has the airbag light on, I do not get any blink codes, when you start car all is well with no warning lights, then within around a minute the light is on solid.

I have tried removing the battery to re-set but no joy also checked fuses all are correct size and not blown.

Any pointers before I have to have it checked by a dealer on the computer diagnostics?

That's rather uncharacteristic for it go solid w/o a blink code...and after a minute or so also. Last thread I read that had just a solid light was due to a total disconnect somewhere, where a short or a break in the path would cause a fault and blink code.

If you don't feel like trying to hung in and under the seat for a start, you're only option is the Dealer SDD software or find someone with AutoEnginuity. You can discover the same 'enhanced' manufacturer specific faults w/ ABS, SRS, and other modules in the same way.

Try the left hand fascia fuse box. Look in the drivers manual.

Default Airbag light

Did you ever resolve this issue as I have the same thing going on.
At the moment I've put it down to the change in BPM as mine fried and I've used one with a totally different part number, all is working but the airbag light comes on goes off and then stays on??!

Hi yes got a resolve, had it on diagnostics and it showed an undervoltage on the battery, it seems a 'module' checks battery voltage before it passes it on to the other computer systems, told the module would need to be replaced.

I had a flat battery some months before, it would not hold a charge so I fitted a new battery, had them re-set message at garage but not change the module... so far 1000 odd miles and no airbag light!!

Good luck... after all the money spent on my XK8 convertible with new battery and stainless exhaust.. I decided to sell so took it to auction... it made £2450 ... I was gutted,,, to the point I took her home.. now sitting on the drive waiting for me to do a couple of small jobs for MOT.

I found 3 things in my fault guide that may help you.

ON(light) B1317(sub code) Battery Voltage High Charging system
ON(light) B1318(sub code) Battery Voltage Low Charging system

ON Feed to Restraint Control Module Open Circuit/Short to Ground (unable to
communicate with module)

Fuse 10 (10 A) blown or missing - Driver Side Fuse Box. Connector: FC008

Hope this helps,

Thanks for posting the solution to your instance of this issue. A new battery might have been painful (£) but nowhere near as painful (£££) as a replacement module!

I hope you get a better price when you do come to sell the XK8.
