Talking Anyone have an Alcantara Headliner???

The first XKR I test drove was a 2001...it was in poor cosmetic shape, but it ran great. I passed on it, but the gorgeous headliner (which looked to be new) still haunts me...

Does anyone have this headliner? How is it holding up? Maintenance?

My current headliner is mint, so "if" I changed mine out, it would be purely for selfish reasons. I could not stop touching the Alcantara. It's so amazing...

Also, if anyone has a shop they recommend, please let me know.

thankyou!!!

Alacantara is popular in the Ferrari/Lambo world as a replacement material. I don't have it but many swear by it. It supposedly wears very well, really doesn't shrink (a big issue with these), and looks good. Its pretty much replaced mouse hair.

The only con I have heard is its color is subject to fading (but really, what isn't). I think it would be great for a headliner.

There is set on eBay (may not fit your 05?):
Jaguar XK8 GRAY SUEDE INTERIOR HEADLINER ALCANTARA HJA1005AC + A PILLAR SET | eBay

As for shops, topsonline would be my first call.

This is my Alcantara headliner before installation. It is beautiful and I do recommend it.

I want a dark grey or black headliner, and prefer new, so there are no surprise smoke smells etc...
thanks for the link though!

my friend has a porsche gt3, and the alcantara is amazing. it looks like it would last forever.

Pretty Bluefin, I've had an Alcantara Headliner for about 4 years.....The Houston heat and sun did the double whammy on my stock original headliner and it started hanging down in several places.....So I went to my friend Joel at "Stitches" here in Houston and he installed a dark tan Alcantara Headliner that really Pops......I love it.....He always has some exotic Sports Car in there getting the Headliner changed out....It's great stuff! I think it cost about $650.00....Also did the Visors!

The XKR is still winter storage. I'm out of town for week so I can't get to the hangar to take pictures until next week. If you still want them then I'll take some for you. As you can see I did the headliner and A pillars myself. Alcantara is not easy to work with, the headliner has many contour changes that make it a challenging project. It took me two days to get it right.
Regards,

White Bear, oh, I would not be doing the work myself. It looks a bit tricky and I don't have the patience for that.
Take pics when you have time, no rush at all.

They only need to kill (one) W.A. Those Alcants are great big old things and they only come from deep West Texas!

I had the headliner on my 02' XKR Coupe replaced last year with black Alcantara by a interior upholstery shop.... they did an outstanding job. Certainly a nice upgrade over the original material, its the way these cars should have come from factory.

The car is currently in winter storage, I will see if I can dig some pics up.

preetybluefin, my apologizes on the the late reply, I've been extremely busy with work & the other cars in my collection. I searched for pics of the completed headliner, but I could not find any on my computer... You will have your new headliner before my car comes out of storage!

Glad to hear you decided on a black alcantara headliner - it really makes the interior feel 'finished' in my mind (the all black looks very luxurious). In my car, I decided to leave sunvisors Grey.... I actually really like the contrast it adds.

Post some photos of your completed headliner.

BTW - you have a stunning XKR!
