Default Anyone know how to make a Dummy Cassette Tape

I did the circuit board hack to build an aux in via the tape deck. It works great but I need to keep the car thinking the cassette is engaged. I ran an empty cassette in the deck, which works but is not optimal. I tried just cutting the tape but the deck is to smart for that and pops it right out. Any ideas how to alter a cassette so the deck thinks everything is running?

Circuit board hack: (BTW I would rate this as easy): https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-deck-142592/

Shot in the dark here: would one of those cassette head cleaner pretend tape work? Maybe the built-in gears making both wheels spin would be enough to fool the deck into just playing. Some of these have screws, so you would be able to open the cassette and remove what you don't need.

If I understand you correctly you want to make a tape loop, that way it would run continuously, and your aux would be able to as well. The only down side would be the tape deck itself might wear out eventually.

Here red is a link to an instructables post on how to make one. Link

That was my first try since I had one sitting around, it did not work. I did figure it out.

Solution: Just open up a cassette, pull out the tape and put a rubber band on the wheels. The trick is that both spindles need to be spinning. The rubber band makes it think the tape is moving.

Scott, good hack!

Thanks for sharing. I never would have expected both spindles to be monitored.
