My battery is going downhill slowly, but surely, and I'm interested in replacing it with a Varta AGM. I've checked their website, but it doesn't seem to include the U.S. in its distribution network. If I can't find a place to buy one, I'll probably go to my local Interstate dealer and buy one of theirs. I live in West Chester, PA.
Best feedback I have heard is the Bosch AGM from Pep-Boys (with an online discount). Last I checked, Interstate does not have an AGM. Sears/Die Hard has an AGM, too. Probably boils down to whatever coupon/special/discount you can find between now and when you have to buy it. Main advantage of AGM is that it is "maintenance free", which means you don't have to refill it with distilled water every once in a while. Probably a lot safer, too, in an accident or if the case ever cracks (should not leak acid like a conventional battery). Downside is that you typically have to pay more for it.
Thanks for the information, it makes sense. Most of the batteries being sold are made by only a few companies, so there probably isn't a huge difference between them.
I bought my AutoCraft AGM from Advance Auto Parts for about $150 after 25% discount code. Have put about 3 years and 50K miles on it and still fine.
Order it online and you can get a 25% off code when you sign up. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...t+Platinum+AGM
