Default Autool X60

I just received my Autool X60 smart meter.
At first couldn't get it to connect and it would go all the way through self check. It just says connection fail. After several failures I tried it while driving. I go maybe 500 ft. and it comes on. I toggle it to engine oil temperature and first reading is 246 deg F. another quarter mile and it't 280 deg F. 54 deg outside and engine is cold. I go about 2 miles and make a turn and realize engine is sluggish. I look at instruments and now have restricted performance, transmission failure and a couple more failure I could only partly read while driving. Went back home disconnected the meter with engine off. Restarted and everything is fine except check engine light is now on.
Anyone else had this problem or am I just lucky. I do feel lucky that the restricted performance went away.

I’m no expert but I had similar problem while driving with a reader connected, I had fault after fault show up on my jag and my van it came up with assisted steering fault, which was scary. But once I had stopped and disconnected the reader I had no faults. I came to the conclusion not a good idea driver with reader connected.

I'm going to give it another try today and if it doesn't work this time I'll send it back. I suspect the check engine light will go out after a few drive cycles.

4 or 5 years on, mine is still working perfectly on my 2002 XKR. It is connected permanently.

I don’t have any theories why you are having these strange issues. I don’t consider myself particularly lucky, so I can eliminate luck as a factor.

if I were in your shoes, I’d sent X60 back and request a replacement before giving up on them completely.

Thanks zray, I'll try another if possible.
I tryed it again this morning and got restricted performance first thing. Not going to try this one again.
I appreciate your help in finding the X60. Maybe the next one will work. I sure would like to have it working.

I’m doubly sorry you are having this trouble, and especially with a product that I’ve recommended

I know these are inexpensive products, and quality control on the cheaper products isn’t the greatest. But still, I’d like to think that not everything is broken.

to say I’m baffled is an understatement.

No problem zray, not your fault at all. I appreciate your help. It will work out.

My X60 had similar problems on a 2000 xk8. It threw codes as it was booting up then failed to connect. My codes were gearbox, abs, trac, fuel pump, put to restricted performance, etc. I disconnected the gauge and they did not go away. CLeared codes with a proper code reader and now all seems well. Advice: Avoid X60 on 2000 xk8.

I still want a reasonable OBDII gauge - suggestions? Are the Bluetooth ones worth it?
