Default Awesome Red XK8 Coupe for sale!

Check out the pictures! Isn't it beautiful?

Seriously, who would do that to a beautiful XK8 coupe? (That's a rhetorical question, by the way.)

By the way... I guarantee that car has a ton of mechanical problems. People who do stuff like that to the car are putting all of their money into the bling and neglecting the basic maintenance. It probably has an awesome stereo, though.

That is down right wrong! More proof that the old saying is still true... "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!"

Wheels are too small. I'll pass, thanks.

I'm a big proponent of tasteful and useful modifications, but this is WAY too much for me. Sometimes, you just have to say "No!". :icon _no:

Sadly, it seems to be an increasing trend on the early coupes.

More sadly this type of thing seems to be the trend on all sorts of (particularly) high end cars when a few years ago this would have been unheard of. The most prevalent "bad boy" or "gansta" mods I see are surprisingly on high-end Mercedes. In fact some of these take me back to the 1970s where you would see tricked-out and hot-rodded Chevy's, Plymouth's, Mustang's etc. Except back then, these were relatively cheap cars easily affordable by gearheads who would then proceed to modify them into street racers. Contrast that with today's Mercedes which are hardly affordable mainstream cars to begin with. So owners take these $50K+ cars and then dump maybe another $20K or more into AMG packages, oversize wheels, body panels, etc. It just seems incongruous that the street-rods of today are these high-end Mercedes.

Doug, don't forget you can pick up a 7 series BMW or similar Mercedes for relatively cheap, though a couple (or more years old). But to "Gangsta Biotch" who is "all up in yo grillz", a Mercedes is a Mercedes is a Mercedes which is a "high end car". It's European so it much signify wealth and taste. When they add bling to this European hotshot, they dramaticly increase the "taste".

So they find what were $50K+ cars for $15K, add some cheap fake chrome, some knock off poser body parts (like non functional air vents) and suddenly the car is gorgeously gawdy (please see Chrysler 300C)

Rev Sam - - At first I thought you were serious. Thank goodness I kept reading and got your true message. Man, those have got to be the UGLIEST wheels on the planet. And, I guess I can forgive doing this garbage to an old Mercedes or BMW 'cuz they're just boxes anyway, but an XK8? Sigh! What's this world coming to?

Except here in the Los Angeles area the souped-up Mercedes that I see are typically brand new models that look like the first stop out of the show room was at the local "pimp my ride" shop.

I was just trying to make it seem like less of a god awful waste than it really is...
