Befuddled by brake caliper rebuild
I’m getting back to working my x100. Decided to rebuild the brake calipers, install new rotors+hoses and add Pistnbroke’s vacuum pump idea.
I cannot reassemble the calipers! I’ve spent a lot of time trying various approaches and am stuck. The dust seal is my problem...how do I fit it in the groove?
I've watched a half dozen utube approaches and I'm still at a loss.
Is there some magic that I am missing here?
Thanks for any insight.
These are the single piston units on a 2005 xk8.

The way I do it is to first put the seal around the piston - off the caliper - slide it down to the bottom of the piston, then work the seal into place before pushing the piston into the caliper through the seal..
It's tricky to actually explain, but in essence fit the seal before the piston is located.

If you try to put the seal into the groove in the cylinder, it will pop out every time you try to stretch it enough to get it over the piston.
Fit the seal right around the leading edge of the piston then locate the loose part of the seal into the groove and then carefully push the piston through the seal and into the cylinder.
