belt tensioner idler pulley on 4.2
Has anyone changed the pulley on the belt tensioner, its is not listed separately in the SNG catalogue and the complete tensioner/pulley unit is no longer available!

If it's 76mm like on the 4.0 then Dayco 89016 fits.
The bolt is LH on the 4 as Vern notes, but I'm wondering if that holds good as the different tensioner design means the 4.2 pulley rotation would naturally tend to tighten a RH thread.
Hope this makes sense...

Are you just after the pulley? How does this assembly compare size wise? Looks correct. Only £15-56 incl

Looks like British Parts have the whole unit and pulleys. https://www.britishparts.co.uk/t/jag...lts-tensioners
It looks like you have metal pulleys. If the bearing in the pulley has gone, they are generally a standard size. I have successfully pushed a bearing out of the pulley on a Mazda 6, and then pushed a new bearing in, using nothing more than a couple of correctly sized sockets and a vice. In the case of the Mazda 6, the bearing was the same as the front wheel bearing on just about every British motorcycle made since 1950. The bearings are available on Ebay, even the good makes for about £5.
I've just been out to the garage and pushed the bearing out of one of the plastic idlers that I've just replaced with metal ones, and the bearing is a 12mm (wide) x 40mm (dia) x 17mm (hole), it's known as a 6203. Add '2RS' suffix to the end and you get a 6203 2RS bearing which means it has seals on both sides. It may be the same size as the bearing inside a metal idler, but it might not! A good vernier and google is your friend on the info re bearing sizes.
Good luck.

The two pulleys look totally different, luckily both are still in good condition so I will refit and look around for cheap alternatives. Once you have done it for the first time futures swap out will be easy. I'll also look out for the bearing option.
The US prices seem to be much cheaper than the UK ones.

Seems like I have not been looking at enough "idler" threads, I hadn't been aware the bearings were changeable. That's what becomes of being a novice with car mechanicals, thanks guys.
