Thumbs up Bernie Embden Does It Again!

I happened across his article about Differential Pinion Pre-Load Adjustment. As he described the problem he had been having with his car it suddenly occurred to me that he was describing the buzzing drive train problem I'd been having with mine. His solution is an interresting one.

So I drop the car off at the shop Monday to have this problem addressed, and I show the shop manager/owner the first few pages of the article. Next thing I know, he goes to his computer, finds the article and prints out all 21 pages! After leaving my car at his shop, I'm driving home in the rental and I wonder, just what is he going to use that article for?

Very interesting. I have no intention of ever doing that, but I had to read it all to the end. I hope it helps to solve your issue.

I hadn't seen that website before...wow. That's an impressive body of work (and an impressive desire to help others).

Kudos to "Bernie."

Please note that our diffs do not have a crush sleeve, so this procedure (how well made) will not change the load on the bearings. On our diffs the right preload is set via placing correct sized shimms, and this could mean a lot of work to get perfect.

Thanks, I was trying to remember that article a couple of days ago.

It's a great site that all Jaguar diy'ers should bookmark.
