Default Best glue for rearview mirror attachment???

Instead of paying for a freaking new windshield to fix my mirror issue I have got the mirror and the connector that goes around the rain sensor apart. I need to re glue the metal ring (that goes around the sensor to the windshield then slide the mirror base on it. What is the best glue/epoxy to use to get the best adhesion to the window??

3M and Permatex both make an adhesive specifically for this purpose: 3M/Rear view mirror adhesive (08752) | Mirror Adhesive | AutoZone.com

Permatex/Rear view mirror adhesive (81844) | Mirror Adhesive | AutoZone.com

I guess best result is to do this when the it is warm out, 70 or so. I guess I could turn the car on, garage open, and heat the cabin of the car for the best temp.

I had the same problem with a mirror on my Corvette. I tried every one of the adhesive on the market for mirrors. I finally went to my local Safelite Shop and they put it on for free, still on after 3 years.

The permatex "kit" sold at most autoparts stores works good enough for most applications.

Any glue on glass can be torn off with enough leverage.
