I went through Pirelli's This last set I went with Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I like the feel and they seem to stick better, even in the rain. It may be my imagination but they sem quieter than the Pirelli's. You'll get a lot of info here and most everybody has their opinion.

I am about to replace the Pirellis on my 2006 XKR 4.2-S (the equivalent of the Victory in Europe) with these Michelin Pilot Sports. I bought them because of their reputation for longevity and quietness.

+++ on the Michelin Pilot Supersports. They are pricey but they really do stick in the dry and wet and are the quietest tires I've used yet.

For reference the following is a list of tires previously fitted to my XKR: Pirelli (Factory) Michelin Pilot A/S, Falken 452, Yokohama S-drive (2 sets).

We have an XK8, not an XKR, but I've really enjoyed the Yokohama YK580 all-season 19-inch staggered tires I put on it in 2012. Far less costly than the Pilots and a better treadwear warranty, too. Available only at Discount Tire....

I've had my Michelin Pilot SuperSports on my 2003 XKR for about two years now.

Great tire. I got the All Season at the recommendation of the tire supplier. The warranty on this model is 40K miles vs.25-30K for the regular Supersport.

I kind of regret that I didn't get the regular tire, because it runs a bit softer and quieter than the AS. We rarely get snow in this part of Texas (Dallas), but, we get
a lot of torrential rain and black ice every now and then. I haven't driven on black ice
yet, but the handling in heavy rain is pretty dramatic compared to my old Pirellis.

The Pirelli's (not all season) gave a much harder, stiffer and louder ride than the Michelin Pilot All Season's do. Good luck.

I'll put a "fly in the ointment" after two sets of Pirelli's I swapped to
Dunlop Sport Maxx's on my 20" Sepangs , handling and quietness much improved and no tram-lining , good it the wet too !!!!!

My racing days are over, but I've always loved spirited GTs. The XKR was a no-brainer, but my racing days are over, so there's no need to blow big bucks on 10,000 mile-a-set P-Zeros.

A few months ago I put a set of 18" Falken PT722's on the rear for three reasons:
Quiet
Long lasting
CHEAP!!!

So far so good. The stereo sounds GREAT! When the Toyo Proxes on the front wear out I'll get another set of Falkens for them too.

All a matter of what's important to "you".

I have used Sumitomo HTR III's for years and like the wet and dry performance and the price. They are long lasting and quiet. They are summer-only though. I have used these since I had my 96 X300 years ago. My 3 year old XKR came with new Michelin Pilot All-Seasons and the fronts chunked tread and had to be trashed immediately.

Default Nitto Motivos!

Replaced my very tired and worn out Falkens with these UHP all season tires. Very quiet, awesome warranty, grippy (haven't pushed them to limits) and they're snow rated! All for $1200 Canadian including alignment.

There was a thread about the Pilot all season and other members had the same problem with these tires, these are different tires than the Super Sport. When I first read about them I didn't realize it was different tire.

I have run Pilot Sports for 2 winters now and they are great in the rain and believe me we get lots of it in B C Canada. They are also OK in slusshy snow if you get caught out.
I paid $1300.00 for them mounted and balanced on my 20" Sepang wheels. Not a bad deal for the quality of tire........ I don't think putting cheap tires on a high performance car is a great idea anyhow.
In the summer I run Hankook Evo's. Not at all good for winter.
