Default Better to lift car with top up or down?

I was wondering if a four point lift puts a strain on the convertible top mechanism? In other words, is it better to lift the car with the top up or down? Or, it doesn't matter because the car's bracing takes the pressure?

Thanks!

I don't think it matters. I've lifted it both ways and don't see any difference. No strange noises with the roof up.

A four point lift shouldn't put any longitudinal or rotational strain on the body structure.

The only time that would apply is when jacking up one corner for e.g. a wheel change.

The only time it was mandatory for me to lift a car with the roof on, was when the Porsche(VW) 914s started getting up in age, and rusting. We had one come in without the roof on, and when we lifted it, it almost broke in half......I think you are OK lifting your car any way you want. Jag makes a pretty solid and heavy car.......Be cool.....Mike
