Does anyone know of a product or procedure to blacken the wheel wells. I have tried a few things with no luck. I feel the chalky appearance detracts from the overall look.
What material are they? My XES has plastic in the front, carpet in the back. On the plastic front I use Meguiars Ultimate Black or Meguiars Hyper Dressing. A good way to apply these products (particularly the thinner Hyper Dressing) is to spray them on, then blow hell out of the area with an air compressor or blow dryer (like a Big Boi) to push it into all the little cracks and crevasses, leave it sit for 30mins, then wipe it all down.
For more permanent results, sometimes hitting chalky plastic with a heat gun makes it go black again. Do a careful test spot somewhere out of sight just first just to be safe.
The front wheel wells are ABS plastic. The rear wheel wells are body metal painted over with some special coating that fades over time.
The way I see it you have three options:
1. Rattle can black paint-job of the wheel well.
2. Body-shop paint-job of the wheel well.
3. Spray-on Bed-liner
Yours are chalky black, mine are platinum silver with remnants of black on it. This tells me that Jaguar painted them as they did the rest of the car, then added some sort of coating to them.
