Good morning!
1997 XK8 w/145K on her.
Yesterday I was 100 yards from my destination at a stop light when I saw steam coming out from under the hood. Never got a chance to overheat. Pulled into a parking lot and proceeded to find the hose with the white duct tape in the picture with a split in it. Got a ride home and let her cool down for a few hours. Came back, cut the hose, reinforced it with the duct tape, topped off coolant, and got her home.
A couple of questions, if I may. The car now feels like it’s misfiring at lower speeds. Also, for the first time ever, my airbag warning light is on. What is the name of the hose? What is the name of the plastic piece it’s attached to?
thanks in advance and I’ll be looking forward to your reply.
That's one of the infamous valley hoses, a heater hose. It looks like all the other hoses in the picture are ready to go. The plastic part is the outlet pipe, AJ85885. The short hose is the bypass hose.
