Hi
I've had a search of the forum techincal guides. My key doesn't work the boot; I've got the carpet/liner out and can see the cable and know what is happening with the levers at both ends.
It looks like my cable has stretched somehow - it doesn't look like it, but is there anywhere to take up the slack in the system?
I can manually move the cam at the key end of the cable and there isn't enough movement to trigger the release at the lock end. Triggering the lever at the lock end works fine.
Thanks for any help!

Given how rarely anyone ever uses the luggage compartment key, it seems strange that the cable should have stretched.

Is the key able to rotate fully in the lock to give maximum movement of the actuating lever?

If so and the cable is definitely stretched and not damaged, a replacement from a breaker has to be the easiest answer.

Alternatively, cut the end off and replace with a Bowden cable solderless nipple to shorten the cable:

Yep it's strange isn't it. Like I said above, I can move the internal cam on the key end manually, and that isn't enough travel. Theres about 5mm too little travel at the latch end.

that bowden cable thing looks like just the ticket, thanks!
