Yes Jeff I did find that on a search, hope they didn't touch that lever with the red handle when trying to allign the boot/trunk lid. Seems a very strange thing to put on the lock mechanism who would want to lock the boot/trunk forever?
O.k. boot/trunk is now open. When I got to the bodyshop and powered the car up the message on the dash said 'boot open' even though it was closed and locked. Luck had it that the garage owner next door has a XKR so by taking measurements from his badge we could work out where the manual key hole is on my car. Drilled a hole in my rear bumper and exposed the manual keyhole, put some WD40 into the lock and let it do its work then opened the boot/trunk with the key. Found the micro switch had come off the latch mechanism so the car thought the boot/trunk was open, thanks Graham for explaining the incorrect locking sequance as the car thought the boot/trunk was open when trying to lock the car with the fob. This also explains why the solinoid release for the boot/trunk lock did not work because it already thought the boot/trunk was open. Micro switch put back in place all tested and now working O.K. other than a hole in my rear bumper which will be filled and covered............ Until next time ha ha. Thanks for all your helps everybody.
