I need someone to poke around my p1646 code issue and this is beyond my indie. Can anybody recommend someone the southern Maine/NH to RI area?

Try Upton Foreign Motors in Upton, Mass. Dana just did some work on my car and I was very satisfied. It's not far off of Rt 495.

 

I have had a similar problem (P164X) on two cars (98XJ8 and 01 XK8)

If you plug a scanner in while the engine is running it will trip the codes every time. (I have to actually TELL the guys at the smog station not to plug the OBD2 in while it's running or they will)

Try this:

Turn engine off
Plug Scanner in
Turn key to on position DO NOT START THE CAR
Clear Codes
Turn car off
Unplug scanner

Start and run car
Turn engine off
Turn key to on position (again do not start)

Let us know if the code comes back.
