I must be as dense as a rock...I read the article you recommended 4 times. I failed to find a TSB or a petition. I don't know what "sounds promising" to a forum member and what would be the feedbacks? Please enlighten me...I'm starting out my day more confused than usual.

I see you added the missing link...thanks for explaining my confusion.

Not to derail the thread but: Why were the timing chain tensioners never a warrantied repair. I'm pretty sure mine need to be done but I'm just wondering why they didn't fix em for free.

Sounds like the owner who started this TSB campaign wants to have the brake replacement handled under factory warranty, which would not apply to owners on this XK8/XKR forum. I certianly sympathize with his complaint, just not sure what we can do for him in terms of a petition, since we own a different vintage vehicle. We might be considered "irrelevant" in this cause by Jaguar, and it wouldn't be the first time that's happened to me.

Damn i quit reading comments because theyre all biased to thinking that jd powers sux, brake dust is a issue for idiots, yes it sucks but there are reasons factories use what they use as brake performance, feel and longevity/costs are probobly top of the list. What something differant than what comes on the car that you dont like friggen pay to change it. Dont like the stereo, wheels, tires, brake dust change it. Its a free country. But you still have to "pay" to live here and everywhere else. I highly ebc redstuff pads. Virtually no dust, brake better than stock, are alittle over $100/pr and look pretty behind your wheels with red powder coated or painted calipers

Good grief! What a whiny little pis_ant. Why not sue God for the dirt on the side of the road that collects on his fresh wax job? When I lived in the Colorado mountains there were always newly moved in dipshts from California complaining about the elk and deer eating their petunias. Most people move there to see the wildlife, etc. May as well move next to the airport and complain about the airplanes. The only people that will benefit from something like this will be lawyers, advertisers and manufacturers (if one guy has to do it they all will and nothing is ever sold at cost.)

Every European car I've owned MBZ, BMW and Jag, have done this and for good reason. They need brakes that WORK!!!! Just get on an autobahn 3-lane doing 90+ and have a crapped out old VW, Opel, etc pull out right in front of you, doing 60 to overtake a truck doing 50. Meanwhile you are looking in your mirror for the little old lady flashing her headlights for you to get the H#$ll out of the way. You dont like it, go buy a 1980 Dodge Dart!!!!

Some of you are missing the point(s)

Not all performance factory brakes make mountains of brake dust like the XKR's do. Porsche is a perfect example and I doubt Jags brakes do a better job of stopping the car than a 911's. Si there is no reason Jag needs to fit their cars with high dust pads!

MB,BMW,LEXUS,VW have all issued TSBs to offer low dust pads and they all stop great.

For those of you out of warranty, wouldn't be nice if there was a factory replacement optional low dust pad?

For those of you that want filthy wheels three days after they've been cleaned and/or have nothing better to do with your free time than clean or have your wheels cleaned, by all means please knock yourself out.

Regent, thanks for trying to be helpful but it appears this may not be the group to try these kinds of things with.
