brake light cover on trunk
forum, my cover to the brake light on the trunk is a bit loose (2001 xk8 conv.) is there a way to tighten. figured i'd ask before i brake it, i noticed theres 3 plugs in the trunk under the light but not sure if they have anything to do with the light it self or both the light and the cover ? tony

Tony, the cover is a clip on, if it is loose chances are one of the clips is broken.
You can try epoxy to fix the clip or better yet I suggest getting some 3M 2 sided tape and taping it down.
A strip of tape from side to side on the back rear part of the cover will do the trick.
Good luck and remember
Happy motoring...

Howdy Folks:
Removing the 3 plugs in the trunk will reveal three metal studs/nuts that secure the brake light assy. If any of these studs have rusted to the point that the studs spin, I suggest plunging stud with a die grinder to free the nut.
Once the assy is removed, there are 2 rectangular access holes to insert a flat blade screwdriver to release the cover (note that trying to prise the cover without removing the whole assy will result in breaking the u shaped clips molded into the cover)
I had thought of using a full length of 3M dbl sided tape but first I experimented with three 1" strips which proved to be more than sufficient (for over 1 year) and the full strip may well be too much if ever you need to prise off the cover later.
My comment is based own my personal experience and I am not saying that my way is the only way.
