Brake pad thickness
I finally got around to taking the wheels off my car to get my new Hankook V12 tires put on. I've had them sitting in my garage for a while, but I've been having too much fun burning the old Pirellis off for the last few weeks. I'm taking the whole wheel/tire into the shop instead of the car so I don't have to worry about them damaging anything - other than the wheels when they mount the tires.
When I got the wheels off I was checking the condition of my brakes and my front pads are getting a little low. I have about 1/4" to 7/32" of pad left on the front. I was wondering at what level I should change them. They feel fine. Its an '05 XKR with the red Brembo brakes.
Also what's the spec on the cross drilled Brembo rotors? I didn't see it stamped anywhere on the outside of the hub and didn't want to get into taking everything apart. They seem very lightly and evenly worn. 56,000 miles.
Thanks

Here in Virginia, you will fail the annual vehicle inspection if your brake pads are "worn to less than 2/32 of an inch ". Rotors fail inspection if they are "worn or scored to the extent that their remachining would result in a failure to meet manufacturer's specifications." Based on what you said about the rotors, I wouldn't be concerned. You can check the Brembo site - they list minimum thickness for their rotors.
