Default Brake Position Sensor

My 1998 XK8 brake lights do not work every time the pedal is pressed. There also seems to be a connection with the solenoid that releases the shift lever from Park. May be connected to speed control as well. Are there other functions connected? Is a new switch warranted or is there some adjustment?

One of the two micro switches in the brake switch is probably failing. They can be replaced at a fraction of the cost of the OEM switch. I don't have the information at hand, but if you do a search you should be able to source them.

Yep, install two new better-quality microswitches into your existing brake pedal switch assembly. One source for new microswitches is www.mouser.com....
