Default Another XJS "Stuck in PARK" tale

Hi!
My Wifes 1994 XJS 2+2 had to be moved to our other driveway.
I started the car up ( 2 revs - the modified XJ6 bracket works great!) and tried to move the gearshift from PARK to Reverse.
The shifter would not move out of PARK. I had my foot on the brake the entire time.
I then used the emergency "Shift LOCKOUT" hole to allow the shifter to move out of the "PARK" position.
I was able to get the car into Reverse and moved to the other driveway where I started the trouble shooting process.

IMPORTANT !!! Check that the Brake Tail lights turn on when the Brake pedal is pressed !!
No Brakelights is an important clue as to what is wrong !!!

I checked the fuses for the shifter solenoids and all were good.
I then removed the shifter console and saw that there were no mechanical obstructions.
I started the car again and tried to shift the car out of PARK. I observed that the solenoid that moves the PARK Lever flap did not actuate.
I pressed the brake pedal several times and did not observe or hear the PARK safety solenoid actuate.
This is the source of the "Click" sound coming from the shifter console when you put your foot on the brake pedal.

I found the electrical diagram for the 1994 XJS and saw that the safety solenoid circuit required the Brake Pedal Switch MUST be engaged before
the Safety Solenoid will work.
Just for testing purposes I replaced the Master Gearshift Safety Circuit (DBC 10736) mounted on the gearshift frame. No change in symptoms.
I then had someone observe the rear brake lights as I pressed the brake pedal. No brake lights! Should have done this first!
All the lamps tested good as did the fuses for the lighting circuits.
This left the actual brake switch up under the dash as the source of the problem.

I removed the entire brake switch mounting frame (4 bolts- sort of easy).
I tested the brake switch with an OHM meter. Definitely a big FAIL.
The brake switch pn: LJB 6420. NOT a CHEAP PART ! $150+.
I got a one for under $75 and had to use the wire harness from the XJS.

I installed the new switch and reinstalled the brake switch frame and did the adjustments to the switch position to allow
proper operation of the switch.
Ta DAA ! The gearshift now functioned properly.
My wife was very happy now that her car worked again.
I am happy also.
