Default Brakes - Need Help!

The brakes on my ' 01 XKR have always had a spongy feel. Thought I'd do some research on pads, brake lines, caliphers , etc. to come up with some ideas. The more I read, the more confused I get. Welcome any ideas as to how to improve overall braking performance.

Many thanks!!

Dirty/worn fluid can give you a "spongy" pedal. Take a look at your fluid - is it really dark? Is there little pieces of trash floating around in it? If so, bleed your system.

Bleeding your system doesn't hurt anyway, and doesn't cost a lot of money. It's a fairly simple thing to do as well - doesn't require any fancy tools.

RSCultho is correct. You should bleed the brakesto beabsolutely certain there are no air bubbles in the system. Even a few tiny bubbles will cause the brake pedal to feel mushy.

If you are certain there is no firewall/bulkhead flex; theninstalling stainless steel lines would be my next move. The rubber hoses bulgeunder hydraulic line pressure.SS flex lines will not expand like a rubber hose, and willmaintain a firmer pedal.

Changing pads and/or rotors will affect the braking "bite", but theywill not firm up thepedal.
