Default Broken Front Foglight Switch

I took everything apart and found that the little black switch in the circuit board is broken. Has anyone dealt with this? Can I get just the switch and replace it in the board? If so any idea of a part number and source?

David, I would be surprised if you could get a spare to replace it with as it is on the board. You could try Radio Shack or your local salvage yards.

I did a quick search for the switch on a couple of electronic distributor sites and could not find a comparable switch. Your best bet may be a salvage unit: Jaguar XJ8 XK8 99 00 01 02 Fog Lamp Hazard Switch Dash Pack Part LJA 6292 | eBay

Still much cheaper than new: Jaguar Parts - Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com

The ebay ad says good through 2002. I called somewhere I've bought Jag parts before and they also said only good through 2002.

Comparing years on the electrical diagram, the connector and circuitry look identical. Physically the console stack had not changed. I think the backlight color shade may have changed from green to blueish green....but you can swap bulbs if necessary.

I found a local electronics shop that works on TV's and such to look at it. I might swap the rear fog lamp switch. I never use it and he will do it for $20. But I think I might be able to find a switch, it looks generic enough.

I was told that there's something to do with HID leveling that is different on the '06 module.

Here is a relatively cheap used unit: 1998 Jaguar XK8 Convertible Dash Mounted Power Switch Control Bank | eBay

One thought is to have your repair guy salvage a switch from this unit and use it to repair your unit.

That would work, but I just hit the parts Jackpot. I found a shop a half hour drive that has a 2001 and 2004 XK8 for parts. Coventry West also confirmed that the books say 2003 -2006. They had one for $140 shipped, which I was all ready to buy but I digged a little longer and came up with this deal.

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]I got the module and now everything is working fine. I got it from Eurosport Fine Automobiles in Cumming Ga. It's a great place that restores old XKE's and a lot more. Andy is the owner and he was very accommodating. They have a 2004 XK8 convertible with 30000 miles they are parting out and some parts left from a 10000 mile 2001 XK8 convertible. Here's his link esportauto.com. The parts cars are not mentioned but give him a call and he will work with you. The 2004 has a very nice black interior.
