Hey there, check out this post in the UK section.....
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...ations-113590/
Les Pauls gets a great name, but if there's quite a bit of work to do, just as many from the far North and also from your area have went to The Jag Specialist in Doncaster.
Good work and savings to be had
Good luck

Just had a look at a few off the web-sites - from what i can deduce apart from checking the car over quite thoroughly - all they seem to actually 'do' is replace the oil and filters all for over £200 ... then if they find something that needs done (i guess they always do like all garages) then they charge you extra for that ... am i right?

Hi there, I can't talk about your vehicle specifically, some of the DIY gurus for your vehicle will probably chime in, but....
More than likely it'll be an engine / oil filter change and perhaps air / fuel / pollen filter, spark plugs maybe then just a general check over the car and that's it.

If you're confident you can change your own engine oil / filter ( or perhaps try National Tyres ) they do it for much cheapness, around £60.00
Audi wanted around £130 to do an oil change on my A6 and Jaguar around £167.00 for my XJ. National Tyres did it for £35.00 and around £46 respectively!
Air filter and spark plugs you should be able to do if required
Have a look around, perhaps grease your door / bonnet / boot hinges etc, check lights all round and levels etc.
This is only a generic idea of what may be involved....
What sort of mileage / service is it due?

I don't know/think it needs a service - just i don't think it's had one in the last say 5000 miles and my XK8 has F.S.H. - i'm going on a 1200 mile trip quite soon, a local high level Indie Garage mechanic said i have the quietest XK8 engine he's ever heard and when we went to Terraclean he checked and said it's emissions were so clean it doesn't need it done - i wonder if that to do with my car running on L.P.G. 99% of the time. I don't want to pay some guy £200 to quickly check my car and change the oil and filter (just flew through an MOT with no advisories) - if he's gonna make it run even better then i don't mind ... maybe i'd be better with an oil and filter change and a tune up? What would they do with a tune up i wonder?

I used to use a Jag specialist in West London, but they have let me down really badly recently so I've had a bit of a hunt around in the West. Best I have found so far are Thomas Barclay in Gerrards Cross. Very knowledgeable guys (they race Jags too) and they gave my car a thorough going over and gave me a list of items to address, none of which the previous workshop had told me about, and some I suspect caused by that previous garage! They offer a courtesy car too, which is handy. Same/similar prices as all the other Jag Indies, but at least they know their stuff with the XK range.
