Default A/C Hose Installation Tips

Looking for advice on installing a new low pressure a/c hose in my '01 XK8. Looks like it's going to be a bear to install.

This is the hose that includes the port to refill the system.

Has anyone replaced this? Any helpful tips??

Thanks!

Could someone please chime in? I can't download the JTIS because the hard drive on this old laptop is full. I can't delete anything and can't purchase an external HD right now.

I would really appreciate any help someone could provide.

I need to take the low pressure hose off the car today.

Thanks!

Desperately seeking advice on the a/c hose question. Can't download JTIS because of computer issues. I've visited "Just Answer" website and offered to pay for advice, but no one is responding.

Could someone PLEASE send the JTIS info on replacing the low pressure a/c hose. It's the hose that includes the recharging port.

If I have to remove the exhaust (verticle pipe connecting to exhaust manifold) what Torx Socket do I need? E-12 is too small. E-14 is too large. I cannot find an E-13 anywhere.

Thanks
Mike

I looked at JTIS for your model year, but I could not find anything specific to changing the any of the lines or hoses. I also looked at my car (the model year is different) and found that the low-side line with the charge port has several segments of either aluminum tubing or hose. If you are wanting to replace the section with the charge port, it looks fairly simple & easy to access the bolts holding the fittings together; one at the firewall, the other one is on the left side of the engine just after the line turns toward the compressor. Hope this helps!

Thanks for looking! On the XK8, the low pressure a/c hose is a very long, very strangely shaped apparatus. It connects at the firewall, then runs behind the engine and down the left side before connecting to the compressor. It's one single piece. I'm thinking it might be helpful to remove the left side down pipe (exhaust) where the O2 sensors plug in. This "might" give me some wiggle room. But I'm having trouble removing one of the bolts. It's a torx bolt, larger than an E-12 and smaller than an E-14. That's why I'm trying to find an E-13 external torx socket.

I really appreciate the help. So the JTIS had nothing on this??

Not that I could see either, JEPEC will have a diagram but that won't help much.

JEPEC? What is that? Do you have access to it?
