Have a -98 Xkr, standard brakes, calipers are in a gray metallic colour, and I have to touch up one of them due to a scratch messing with rear wheel bearing, anyone know of a good match colour code? Have tried google but came up with nothing
Cheers!
I'd only ever seen rusty brown calipers on an XK8 before the days of Brembo. Have to go back to the early XJ6's and before for an OE black stove enamelled finish.
If the gray on yours is the same as the windscreen trim and door waist rail colour, this is Dorchester Gray.
BCS Automotive in Nottingham, UK can refurbish calipers or supply caliper paint in any colour for DIY refinishing. If the gray is an OE colour, they will know what it is: https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk/
Not cheap but I've always thought anyone who paints brake calipers can't be short of money.
Thanks all, I've now realised that I don't have standard brake calipers ......it is the brembo upgrade installed, car is new to me so dont have much knowledge of the XK models(confusing brembo upgrades with the RR upgrades that wasn't available untill 01/02(?), so yeah should make it easier to find a colour code with that info, here's some upgrade kit that are the same colour & brembo https://www.autoreservejaguar.com/xk...t-upgrade.html
here is front left caliper(rear left still bubble wrapped to avoid further scratches since also doing the rear lower shock bushings once done with wheel bearing)
Looks like you havet the "RR" brakes, which is brembo (?), a newer incarnation of the ones i have i assume, and yes they do have all the shades brembo has ever made at BCS in UK, they are selling paint kits for diy'ers, about 40£(for 4 calipers), Will have to order before UK leaves the EU,
Cheers!
Finally got around to painting the caliper on my XKR. After researching numerous caliper offing vendors and seeing what other forum members have done I decided on POR-15 Red. Very pleased with the results. Results depend on following each step per POR-15 as specified. Very pleased. Cleaned up the wheels too while I was at it.

One must be very circumspect when painting calipers. Using 99% of all paints and even those labeled for caliper use, will result in degraded braking performance due to the paint holding in the heat generated by braking.
The best caliper restoration company uses a polymer coating that is only a few microns thick, yet has great protection qualities. In comparison, Home applied paint is many times thicker and does nothing to enhance the heat shedding .
Interesting strategy painting the mounting red brackets to give the standard brakes a "larger" look. Don't remember seeing that before.
Not a fan of those OEM lugs though. Had enough problems with those for my lifetime.
