Hello boys-
Many of us have been aware of the unique insanity of Mr. Tony Murton for some time now. If you want some real engine ****, have a look at these new photos from his Facebook Page for Paragon Design UK.

Thanks for the inspiration, Tony! You're a nut.

There's certainly a lot to like about the car in picture 2. And the project car too.
The bodywork in picture 2 looks great, really aggressive with the front skirt, built out arches and levelled rear end bumper/bodywork.
On the project car the fans are massive, and the aluminium radiator looks quality too.
Do you actually race those cars?
I bet with the weight saving and manual gearbox it's a real buzz to drive, especially if the engine is significantly tweaked.
Hope you are going to post pics of the project car when it's finished.

interesting,
having owned both , and knowing the body shell is basically the same , would it not been ' easier ' ?? to re-shell the XJR with the XJ40 outer body panels ? , though the trickiest part would be the rear trunk lights , otherwise i think the wings doors and bonnet would bolt right on
but as i said
interesting

There were some big differences....lol!
I cut the back end of the '40 including the rear deck and half way up the C Post.
The boot floor is different and the XJR floor remains in place along with electrics.
The doors were swapped over because I wanted to retain the chrome (stainless steel) frames along with the older fixings (torx stainless bolts etc)
The front wings do bolt on but the support rail needs additional mounting plates.
Front headlamp panels need changing N/S and O/S obviously.
Bonnet straight on.
Sunroof is bigger in XJR
Dashboard different (better) but all interior trim needed to be either changed or colour coded AEE Antelope rather than Piano Black and Cream
Fuel tank feed needs modifying along with a myriad of other smaller items but heh! it's a project.
Electrics were the biggest bain.... seats + modules + centre console switching etc
I was aiming for a bodyshell swop but the '300 shell is 90% different to the '40 albeit often in detail e.g. Sills (rockers) have a swage line on the '40 but not the '306.
The reason for the 90% difference is because when Ford took over they cancelled XJ90 (massive mistake! ) along with XJ41 and XJ42 and asked for a rework of '40 al la Granada/Scorpio Front end/rear end re-hash. By the time the engineers had finished the modifications it would have been cheaper to go with XJ90.
XJ90 emerged as the XJ350 but with a raised roof line, aluminium body and retro wood and leather.
My Jag is now finished apart from painting , everything else including new chrome, carpets w.h.y are ready to be fitted. An XK150 Coupe has taken it's place as daily driver and now I'm kinda' wondering what to do with it.
I've posted over the past couple of years onto XJ40.com so plenty of detail there for you if interested. Only reason for slow down is XK150 Coupe, RR Shadow2, new business launch, Covid, House, oh...you hey the drift! lol! but enthusiasm and love for the '40 undiminished
Best
