Normally in the x308 section. Asking here, because on my searches, I mostly found info from the x100 owners.
Anyways, I'm currently getting the centers redone for my xjr 100. I've removed the trim rings. They were seriously damaged.
I've polishing the lips of the wheels. And I'm not getting the same amount of shine as the wheel trims.
Has that been the same case with you guys?
That is the case.
Some time ago l found and purchased a couple of brand new old stock rear Detroits for spares because they were cheap, anyway they came without trim rings but had polished outer rim instead. Trim rings really do add the finishing touch but at a substantial cost.
For flimsy pieces, yes they're very much over priced. Thanks for the response. I doubt doing any type of wet sanding will make it any shinier than it is.
Take them to one of those places that can chrome anything. Its not actually chrome they use silver like the rear of a mirror and then coat with lacquer . Search on something like chrome plating plastic.
Those BBS Wheels are 3 piece and the Trim Ring is made of S/Steel not Chrome plated. That's why they cost $125.00 or so! Since they are S/S, you can use a Rasp, File and Body Sand Paper and Polish to smooth most of the Curb damage you might get.....but there is a limit to the Damage you can fix.....at that point you must replace the Ring....They can be found @ SB Wheels in England and Coventry West in Atlanta.......Without the Rings, those Wheels look like.....(you got it)!
Good Luck to you!

If these were being polished they would use a rotary (cloth) high speed buffing wheel and tallow not flatting 1200 grit. find someone who can chrome plastic and they can fix it.
