Question Can you emulate a wheel speed sensor with a 1 or 2k resistor if not moving?

Hola!

I'm still getting ABS trac errors from a standstill, got codes pulled:

C1155 - Front left wheel speed sensor circuit failure (so sensor or harness?)
C1145 - Front right wheel speed sensor circuit failure (so sensor or harness?)
P1637 - Can engine control module / ABS module /network malfunction
P1799 - Can transmission control module / ABS module circuit / module circuit malfunction

The harness is fine did a voltage test.
Resistance reading for both sensors are 1.1k.
Battery is fine.

Seems like the ABS box is not even after a rebuild from modulerepair on Ebay, but could a resistor emulate a sensor at standstill?

Is it an active or passive sensor?

So the sensors are Hall-effect (see, e.g., Wikipedia) devices. Technically, we would call these active devices, but with the car sitting still, I think they must test like simple resistors. If all four of your sensors have nearly equal resistance, I think it's unlikey any of them is the cause of a fault. Especially so with the car still.

Are you really sure about the harness sections leading to the sensors. You want a resistance test there, analog meter if possible, looking for any blips as the wiring is flexed and/or the connectors stressed.

I'm wondering if a fault in the module (or elsewhere) could be causing a spurious sensor code ??

I have seen a harness go intermitent on an S-type and test fine unless it was flexed 'exactly the right way'. Sometimes it is difficult to test for a situation like this without substituting a new harness.

No voltage or resistance fluctuation over the harness, visually looks perfect, weird that BOTH harnesses would go at once. Thinking it's the module, but resistors could be a ok test. Can also bypass the harness.

You could try placing the correct sized resistor at the module end. If you get the warning light then you are looking at the module, if not, harness or sensor.

I agree with you, strange to have both harnesses defective at the same time. Improbable but not impossible.
