I replaced my brake switch and now my brake lights stay on. I am wondering if I could have installed it backward. I am not sure it is possible to do, but with my luck it may have happened. If not maybe it is a bad switch. i am not looking forward to replacing it again.
The first pic is what I want from you and the second is showing you how to place your camera.
With Brake lights stuck on, the gearbox will not change up gears either. Check if this is so with a very short drive!
If this is the case, then check post #14 in this thread, https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-gear-233677/
some of these switches, depending where you got it from, can be wired as normally closed or normally open - check the function that the switch is actually switching from one state to the other when the pedal is pressed
Double check the "trigger" of the switch. It can be adjusted. There are "teeth" involved in a form of ratcheting mechanism. I am sure you can find pictures of this trigger out there to better guide you. Maybe it is fully extended and it seems like you have your foot on the brakes the entire time. As already pointed out, with your car thinking you have the foot on the brake, the gearbox normally does not shift up (unless you activate the gear shift level back and forth).
