Default Can't Flip Seat Forward

Hi,

My XKR has Recaro seats, but I am not sure that makes a difference to the issue. The passenger seat does not flip forward if you raise the handle. The cable that goes down to the seat mechanism has come loose, it seems to have a plastic "press stud" that goes into a circular hole in the seat release mechanism. If I push it back it, it will work once or twice and then come out again. Does anyone have any tips to fix this?

Thanks,
Nick D

Hi, it's difficult to comment without a picture. There is a cable to both left and right hinges of the seat. See pics below.

The 'Press Stud' that you explain, I think it is the reverse side of one of these black items shown. Is this right? Do you know if it is the lower (Red arrow) or Upper (Blue arrow)?

Hi PKWise,

Thanks for those pictures. The "press stud" is the reverse of the item at your red arrow. I can reconnect it, it will work once or twice and then pop out again!

OK, I can see the problem.
These clips are not individually available because the cable end is lead-flared after assembly (So even if they were available, you couldn't easily fit it).
There is however, something you could try...
1. First, you will need to remove the outer hinge cover. Be careful to remove the one screw on the inside (yellow arrow), then pull off -there are some inner clips around the edges.
2. This will reveal the Press Stud in question (second image) - which I presume has a damaged clip end-form (green paint).
3. My idea is to fit a small self-taping screw between the leaves of the clip (as demonstrated in centre of third image). Perhaps include a washer as well. Screw size unsure but only 8mm long max. Don't over-tighten as it will damage the clip.
This is just an idea that I would do in the same circumstances. I can't guarantee the life but I've seen this done successfully in other applications.

Hi PKWise,

I have done something along the lines of what you suggested and for now it's holding! Thanks so much for the good suggestion.

Thanks,
Nick D
