I haven't given much thought to the alarm sound but the Parts Catalogue suggests the alarm noise in a 2001MY comes from a Security Sounder (item 4) and not from the Horn.

My 2001 does the same (horn and siren). Hey how about upgrading your horns instead? I installed Ferrari air horns and they sound nice and loud. :-D Just removed the horns and used one of the output wires to power the air compressor. Power goes thru a relay so no problems there.

I put in air horns on a car years ago but the delay for the pump to spin up drove me nuts.

The pump I used has no delay. I used two Ferrari horns and an marine air pump I purchased on Ebay. I wired the pump to a separate relay using battery power and used the shortest hose I could (12" or less) so as to reduce the time the pump has to fill up the hose with air.
