Default Caster adjuster

My 1998 XK8 has wear on the inside of the front tires. The guy at the alignment shop said that the Camber was a couple of degrees off. He said that I needed a Cam Bolt for adjustment. I believe that it is good for only.15 degrees. I have 14" from center of wheel to Fender. I know that it needs to be 15 3/4". It seems like I need two front springs. My question is that they sell new lowering springs that I may find that it would drop down an inch and half. wouldn't I still have the same problem that I have now?

They still sell original style springs, though it's far far more likely to be upper spring dampener (it's late, think the name is wrong - spacer above spring) Cost about $130 pair at Welsh. Many of us have done the job in our driveway.

Yes, but from what I have read here, the ride height has a small impact on camber. Have you replaced your shock mounts? That will raise the ride height significantly. I question the mechanics comment that the camber is a couple of degrees off. That much negative camber is obvious when you look at the car.

When I bought my 06 the insides of the front tires were badly worn. Ride height and camber were fine but there was toe out. After correcting the new tires are wearing evenly. Motorcarman (Bob Gauff) has said the toe should be read with the wheels being forced apart, a standard procedure in Mercedes shops. If I were you I would get a second opinion from someone who routinely works on Jags.

I had looked at a Post on here that said that the ride height made all the difference with the wear of the tires. "Positive Camber" post from 10-17-17 by Jeremys?

As mentioned above, many of us have restored our proper camber settings by replacing our upper shock mounts. That was certainly the case with my wife's 2006 XK8. The Welsh Enterprises poly kit is certainly the way to go....

I did fail to mention that I have repaired the Bushings with a Welsh poly kit. When I bought the car it needed a overhaul of the front suspension.

Seems I had a similar situation with the camber on my 03 Coupe. Replaced the OEM with Welsh Poly uppers plus the spring assisters listed on their site including new shocks. Seemed to help and ride height rose almost to Factory height. After 10K to 15K the height had dropped some and camber was off. Ordered a new set of front springs (Suplex) for the Coupe, did the install and all seems well. 1500 miles and no problems. The inner wear on tires seem to have vanished and steering wheel is straight ahead and tracks well. Jon's note on Motorman's recommendation to spread the front wheels is spot on for alignments.
